Insulated water bottle tote – want to ‘do
it yourself’?

Aninsulatedwater
bottleis very useful. But have you ever
wondered whether it is possible that you will actually
make a tote for your bottle? Today, people are interested
in reducing, reusing
and recycling and thus they are going for refillable
bottles instead of typical plastic bottled
water.
In the horizon of medical research,
there are new discoveries that reveal the downsides of
plastic bottles. So this article tells you how you can
make your own insulated water tote, for keeping water
cooler for longer period of time, and for protecting the
bottle too. This will give you some idea regarding how to
make the most out of your insulated water
bottle.
Decide on the
fabric
This is as easy at it sounds. You are
able to create the exterior of aninsulatedwater bottle tote with literally anything. And
remember the spirit of reducing, reusing, or recycling?
So try and make it using something that is around the
house lying uselessly – that should give you some more
satisfaction!
Decide on the
Padding
The padding issue is quite important
here – at least as far as an insulated tote is concerned.
The reason is, it can serve dual purposes by providing
padding on your water bottle and creating insulation for
keeping the water cool. This means that, you might feel
free to utilize things that are already lying around your
home.
Good example of such ‘recyclable’ or
‘reusable’ materials are a cover of the worn out ironing
board, or an old camping mattress that is made of foam
(but the loft is no more). Just in case you can’t find
anything like that around your home, just hit the
neighboring fabric store.
Measure up
yourinsulatedwater
bottle
The 1st step for making a useful tote is
to measure the water bottle you are planning to use. This
lets you create a workable pattern. So take clear
measurements of the diameter and height of the water
bottle. Jot down those details in black and white. Then
add up an inch or 1.5 inches to every item in the
measurement, since this will allow some
leeway.
That way, you can be sure that you are
able to use that for other sized bottles too. And does
the padding seem especially thick? Then you might want to
consider adding some additional chunk to the measurements
for making sure that your bottle of water, or other sized
bottles, fit well inside.
Create a suitable
pattern for that bag
Cut open one of the typical paper bags
you have in your home. Or else, you might consider using
a larger paper sheet. Consider using a ruler along with a
pencil for making a decently accurate pattern out of the
measurements you have taken. Create a pattern so that it
fits well with your insulated tote’s
bottom.
Then just place that bottle onto the
paper, to put a trace all around it. Then draw that
circle again to make sure it's 1 or 1.5 inches bigger
(take a look at the step above). Try and find yet another
container to match the dimensions you’ll need – then
trace around that as
well.
You get the idea right? This way, you
got to chalk out the strap’s pattern and also cut the
fabric out according to all your measurements. All you
need to do is create the tote’s bottom and sew things
together (including the
strap).
This way, you
can get creative with yourinsulated
water bottle!
