Metal drink bottles are now the favorite of fitness
gurus or hydration lovers all across the world. They come with potentials for ensuring that the beverage or
water you keep in them stays healthy and safe. The key benefits for which people buy these bottles are -
peskiness, leak proof performance, durability, ease and reusability.
But in addition to all those benefits, most metal drink bottles are prone to the hassle of catching molds following a couple of
weeks use. And you surely know how bad molds look when your bottle is not washed for a couple of weeks. But not
to worry, since the following steps will let you get rid of those molds effectively.
Enjoy!
1. To begin with, fill up your sink using warm and soapy water.
2. Next, scrub your metal bottle’s exterior and interior parts. Use a soft bottle brush for
this. Wash up your bottle into the sink. But be sure to use a flashlight occasionally to see
whether there is any dirt, stain or mold left inside.
Pay attention specifically to the crevices within the lid. Do not forget to check the bottom as
well. Consider using a tightly rolled towel just in case you do not have any bottle brush
handy.
3. Rinse out your bottle with fresh and clean water. Repeat the 2 steps mentioned (as well as
step- 3) if you’ve spotted any additional molds.
4. Rinse your metal bottle using vinegar, and clean thoroughly inside-out. This’ll help you get
rid of the residual mold spores – if any.
5. Pour out your vinegar into the sink. Then rinse that bottle using clean water once
more.
6. Completely dry your bottle’s exterior parts and put it simply upside down for the night to
let the inside water to slowly air dry.
Some more tips
Consider using dishwashers for killing the molds on your metal bottle. Nevertheless, some metal
bottles come with extremely narrow openings – making it hard for you to cleanse thoroughly. This gets even
tougher when it comes to cleaning the interior. So use long bottle cleaning brushes if you have to.
- Don’t use any metal brush onto the bottle, as it’ll scratch or damage the inner or external
surface of it. And be careful while using boiling water on your metal bottles (we recommend you do not
use it at all) as this might actually melt/warp the pieces of rubber on the inner or outer surface of
your bottle.
- Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. In some cases, metal bottles are made
of alloys instead of stainless steel. So that might call for special handling. And do stay away from
using any cleansing chemical that is not meant for metal bottles.
- Be careful about bottles that come with thermal insulations. Some models are available in
the market to serve the needs of bikers or highly mobile working people. So if the bottle is meant to
insulate external atmosphere from heating or cooling the water/beverage inside, you should strictly avoid
using harsh chemicals.
Following these tips should give you a risk free experience while cleaning your metal drink bottles.
